What is To The Bank Tuesday? It’s weekly encouragement and ideas to help you save money in easy ways. Encouragement to be frugal not miserly. No one likes a miser!
Ways I Saved Money This Week:
-We cancelled our Hulu Plus subscription. We hardly ever watch it so we decided to stop paying for it. That’s an extra $7.99 a month savings.
-I had a Classical Conversations meeting at my house this week and I usually serve dinner during the meeting. I decided to do an easy crockpot Quinoa Chicken Chili. The recipe calls for chicken breast but I used thighs instead and saved about $2.00 a lb. I also made broth with the thighs instead of buying a box of broth and used dried beans instead of buying a can of beans. I ended up saving about $6.00 on this meal and it tasted just like it does when I use more expensive ingredients. I also had so much leftover that we ate it all weekend. I still have all the meals I had planned on making Saturday, Sunday and Monday to make this week which means I’ll save some money at the grocery store since I need three days worth less of dinners to buy.
-I was thinking about buying a new language arts program for my two oldest boys. I borrowed the teacher’s guide for a popular language arts program from a friend. I ended up deciding to use a program I already had sitting on the shelf in our school room. I bought it used a while back and had forgotten about it. When I remembered it I got it off the shelf and compared it to my friend’s. It won out being that it was already paid for and it had less busy work in it than the borrowed one.
