How I Saved Money This Week
-Beside buying eggs, milk, and a little produce, I didn’t do any major grocery shopping. I wanted to use up more of what I have in my pantry and freezer. I have a ton of beans in my pantry. Beans are very inexpensive and super versatile. A friend shared a chickpea brownie muffin recipe with us and we’ve enjoyed them for breakfast several times since. A can of chickpeas is less than a dollar and if you buy a bag of dried and cook them yourself you can save even more money. You can sub black beans for this recipe if you have any on hand.
-I planted Swiss chard, spinach, kale, and peas this weekend. This is only going to save me money if they actually sprout and grow but you have to start somewhere.
Growing your own food is like printing your own money. -Ron Finley
Check out Ron Finley’s TED talk. There is a tiny bit of bad language but well worth the watch. I love what this guy is doing for his community. If you have an extra 10 minutes check it out.
